Birthing Green
Wool fills closets, skirting chill With flannel’d down and long john lace Snuggling still before the fire Protected sure in close embrace
Gripping cold and dripping ice Outside, outside, away from blaze Here on bear skin sings the summer No blast heard from hoarfrost haze
Morning greets an arctic wonder Slick on slick the mirrored ground Reflecting rays of low sloped glow On pools of diamonds come unbound
Softly cries the crocus blooming Through the snow its white bud glooming
